Three jade plants I started today... will probably end up as Christmas presents for the kids' teachers.


Our Autumn Blaze Maple is more stunning than any year we've lived here.  A benefit of a dry fall, according to my husband.

Our backyard.  Almost time to put the sandbox to bed for the year.

The new window decorations Claire and I came up with for Autumn.  We're pretty handy with scissors, construction paper and scotch tape.

Do you want to play?

We left the dishes on the table in a rush to go into the fading light.  I grabbed a rake and eagerly went after the dull and the dead, seeking green signs of life that I knew would be coming up by now.  Two weeks into seclusion, more talk of sickness and death every hour. To see Spring coming right on time seems like a miracle; both a welcome relief and an annoyance.  This isn’t normal. This isn’t good. This is not right- to miss out on life, to turn away from the ones we love. Exposing a new beginning is a reminder that life is going to go on, even when it isn't the same. And I just want it to be the same. Tonight, as I gardened, I heard the kids start a game of freeze tag.  Hearing them laugh together made me smile. A Belated Birthday Post

We celebrated two birthdays in our family this summer.  Fisher turned 9 and Claire turned 7; both in June.  I feel badly I am so behind with my posting of our summer, and wanted to make sure to document these important events Birthday #1:  Fisher turns 9  Fisher at 9: Weight: ~69 pounds Height:  ~53 inches Favorite things to do:  Play video games (Minecraft is his new fave), read Harry Potter, draw monsters, play with his friends, participating in team sports Talents:  He is proving to be a talented young pianist, and loves to sing.  He is very bright in math.
