July This n That

I can't believe that July is almost over!  I have been meaning to post pictures of what we've been up to for awhile, but we've been so busy and thus I have been so tired and not feeling to inspired lately.  Here's the shortened version of our adventures this month: For the 4th of July we went to Platte for my husband's uncle's big 70th birthday bash.  We toured the flooding of the Missouri River.  It was REALLY hot that day and the kids were complaining about walking around the river until we found some rocks to throw... then nobody wanted to leave :) My husband and the two big kids Holland and her Daddy The men playing Pitch at Uncle Leonard's Birthday Party The day after our trip to Platte, we packed up and the kids and I spent a week in Iowa with my parents.  The best part was that Aunt Sigrid was there too!  My kids are very lucky to have an Aunt like my sister.  They have a lot of fun together.  Hooray for Aunt Sigird! Treasured Time

On a Saturday morning a couple weeks ago, my husband took my two older children out to run some errands and for a bagel.  That left me and my little 17-month old to our own devices.  It was simply a perfect summer morning.  A soft breeze, no humidity and a cloudless sky.  So we went outside. We sat on the curb, enjoyed the sun, and enjoyed the view. We laughed and played and talked a little (mostly about noses and tummies and pretty flowers). We spent a little time alone, And then a little more time together- just the two of us. In the midst of our play, a middle-aged man ran by.  When he saw the cute little miss sitting on the street corner, he stopped and took off his head phones.  We chatted for a little while and I shared that I had two older children out with their daddy at the moment.  "You know," he said, "I am one of 5 children.  I had absolutely no doubt growing up that I was very loved by my parents.  But I have virtually no memories of any one-on-one

Here's some beautiful little grape tomatoes.... I was so happy to find these little guys..  jalapeno peppers! Here are my ginormous cucumber and zucchini plants.  There are a couple of nice lookin' zucchinis hidden under there. The biggest tomato I have so far.. an "Early Girl." My impatients!
